Portable Storage FAQ's

I have things to put in storage. How do I get started?

Call us to schedule delivery of a Portable Storage Unit. Let us know if you want an On-Site Storage Unit or a Warehouse Storage Unit. We’ll help determine how many storage units you need and provide pricing. Then we make an appointment for delivery.

How big is a storage unit?

Warehouse Storage Unit – 5 feet wide, 8 feet long, and 7 feet tall. The inside dimensions are slightly smaller, and the doorway is 4 feet wide. The floor is about 5 inches above ground level.

On-site Storage Unit – 8 feet wide, 10 feet long, and 7 feet tall. The inside dimensions are slightly smaller, and the doorway is 5 feet wide. The floor is about 5 inches above ground level.

How many portable storage units can I get at once?

We can deliver up to 2 On-site Units or 4 Warehouse Units at one time, but we’ll bring more if you need them. Order as many units as you need, and if you have one that doesn’t get used, we take it back free of charge.

Where do you put the storage unit when it’s delivered?

The storage units can be placed almost anywhere on your property. Typically, they are placed on solid ground in a location where they are easy for you to load or unload. Two Warehouse Storage Units or one On-Site Storage Unit generally fit in the parking space of one car.

Do I have to be on-site when you deliver my storage unit?

No. Just open your account with us, pay the initial storage payment and transport fee, then tell us where to place the unit for loading or unloading. If you pay with a credit card, we can do this all over the phone.

What happens after the storage unit is delivered?

Warehouse Storage Unit – You have up to 3 days to load the unit. We pick it up after it’s loaded and store it in our warehouse. When you need your items back, we bring the storage unit back to you. We will even deliver it to a new location if desired.

On-site Storage Unit – You load it, lock it and keep it as long as you need. We’ll pick it up when you are done.

How much will a storage unit hold?

Warehouse Storage Unit – Typically holds an average room to a room and a half of household goods, or up to 2000 lbs. Order as many units as you need, and if you have one that doesn’t get used, we’ll take it back free of charge.

On-site Storage Unit – Typically holds 2-3 rooms of household goods.

Both types of storage units will accommodate refrigerators, couches (measure the length), motorcycles/lawn tractors/quadrunners/jet skis/snow mobiles (fluids must be drained), washers/dryers etc.

How do I keep items from shifting during transit?

Pack the Warehouse Storage Unit just like you would pack items inside a moving truck. Place heavier items on the bottom and lighter items on the top. Fill in gaps between items as much as possible and USE PACKING SUPPLIES! Use boxes for small items and place blankets over or around large items. See our Packing Tips for more details.

Do I have access to my stored items at the warehouse?

Yes. Provide us with advance notice, and you can access your storage unit at our warehouse.

How do I get my Warehouse Storage Unit brought back for unloading?

Contact us 5 days in advance to schedule re-delivery, and pay your account balance in full.

Can you deliver my Warehouse Storage Unit to another location?

Yes. When you are ready for re-delivery of your storage unit, simply provide the new address. Please contact us for details regarding long distance moves.

How much does it cost?

Warehouse Storage Unit – $25 per month. A transport fee is charged when a unit is brought to your location for loading, and again when the unit is brought back for unloading.

On-Site Storage Unit – $45 per month. A one-time transport fee is charged when the unit is brought to your location.

The transport fee is based on travel distance, the number of storage units you use, and how long the units are used. The fee goes down with longer use. To determine the transport fee, call us with your zip code, the estimated number of storage units required, and the estimated duration of storage.

Is there a minimum?

Yes. There is a one month minimum storage fee per container.

How do I pay?

We accept credit cards, cash or checks. The initial storage payment and transport fee is collected prior to delivery of the storage unit.

Credit card payments can be made by phone, check payments must be sent to our office, and cash payments must be brought to our office in person. We can automatically collect monthly storage fees via credit card.

Will I receive a monthly statement?

No, we do not send monthly statements. The initial storage payment amount is adjusted so that subsequent payments are always due on the first day of the month.

Does the storage unit protect my belongings from the weather?

Yes.

Warehouse Storage Unit – Covered with a highly durable, weather-resistant cover when on-site for loading. After transport and placement in our clean dry warehouse, the cover is removed until you need the unit back on-site.

On-Site Storage Unit – Weatherproof and designed for continuous outdoor exposure.

Are the storage units secure?

The storage unit door latches tightly. Use your own lock and key to secure the door. You are responsible for security of the storage unit when it is at your location. Once the unit is stored in our secure warehouse, it is never exposed to the general public. Check your homeowners insurance to see if your items are insured.
